Stop the Anti-Gun Assault on the Second Amendment

A Petition to my State Representative, Senator, and Governor Jared Polis

WHEREAS: The Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution clearly states, “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed;” and

WHEREAS: Article II, § 13 of the Colorado Constitution states, “The right of no person to keep and bear arms in defense of his home, person and property… shall be called into question;” and

WHEREAS: “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation laws represent an egregious violation of the right to Due Process; and

WHEREAS: Declaring that an individual who is old enough to join the United States military is neither old nor mature enough to exercise the rights of Majority attained upon turning 18; and

WHEREAS: Holding a firearm manufacturer or store owner accountable for the intentional or unintentional misuse or illegal use of a product, when no other industry faces such levels of scrutiny, reveals an abject hatred of fundamental American Constitutional rights by those with the duty to respect those rights; and

WHEREAS: Denying residents of Colorado access to legally purchased firearms, for any length of time, without substantive cause, represents a violation of the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms;

THEREFORE: I respectfully but firmly urge you to OPPOSE the upcoming slate of gun control legislation.

Bloomberg’s Gun Control Lobby has called on the State Legislature to wage war on the Second Amendment rights of Coloradans, and they have delivered in spades!

So far, the anti-gunners have announced expansions to Red Flag laws, liability of firearm manufacturers and sellers, raising the minimum age of purchase to 21, and a universal 3-day waiting period.

Unfortunately, we expect even more radical gun control bills to follow: a California-style ban on the sale of so-called “assault weapons,” a ban on homemade firearms often referred to as “Ghost Guns,” background checks on ALL AMMUNITION purchases, and licensing requirements for ALL FIREARM purchases.

That’s why it is more critical than ever that pro-gun Coloradans stand together and make it clear we won’t tolerate ANY gun control legislation!

I am confident we can defeat these authoritarian policies with your help, but it will take all hands on deck.
